Hope...Help... Haiti

"Surviving for more than two weeks, it's difficult but apparently it's possible," said French doctor Sebastien Caussade, hopeful that others may still be saved from beneath the debris.

Haitians set up impromtu tent cities thorough the capital after an earthquake measuring 7.0 rocked the Haitian capital just before 5 pm yesterday, on January 13, 2010 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Much of Port-au-Prince was reduced to rubble by the quake on January 12, but the airport was operational, opening the way for international relief aid to be ferried in by air as well as by sea. Stories have been told. Rescuers are still searching on. Aids are coming.

HOPE. Aids reach the Haitian People without prejudice and attached conditions.

HELP. Everyone of US get involved in what ever way we can share to rebuild the lives affected by the “worst hideous natural disaster.”

HAITI. You are not ALONE.

Enough?!

"Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever... Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free"    --- Thomas Jefferson, former U.S. President, Inscription on the Jefferson Memorial, Washington District of Columbia

The “10 doable things” envisioned to reform Philippine education are:

• Increasing the education budget to 4 percent of the gross national product to make it at par with other countries.
• Enhancing basic education by adding two more years to it.
• Promoting academic excellence by developing globally benchmarked standards of excellence.
• Developing community ownership of schools.
• Ensuring universal access to education.
• Strengthening higher education.
• Empowering teachers.
• Building transparency and accountability.
• Supporting private education.
• Maximizing alternative learning.

Education Nation, a coalition of captains of industry and other concerned citizens, launched recently a blueprint for reform to save the Philippine education system from collapse.  “We at Education Nation are saying ‘Enough!’ We cannot simply sit back and watch our education system further deteriorate in the hands of a government that has shown little concern for the plight of millions of Filipino children,” Ramon del Rosario Jr., chair of the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), said at the launching ceremony.

Apparently,  Philippine Education System is lagging behind among its peers in the Region. And let’s face it, with the political climate that we have, it would definitely take time or an iron fist to implement changes that WE need.

We make little changes. Thanks to Filipino Educator Efren Peñaflorida for his innovative “Kariton Klasrum” (pushcart classroom).

Better approach should be done. Improved educational infrastructure means professional advancement for teachers, additional school buildings & facilities, improved curriculum development among other things.

WE need to tackle these reforms and give school administrators and the community wider autonomy on handling school’s culture and atmosphere than simply relying with the national government. We should pushed through the so called “Community based Educational System” backed by the National Government. Reforms should always work to this level as positive as possible for students, parents and the community.

Stop Politicking! Help. Build. Educate.

Honorable La Islas Filipinas

‘I have grown very, very, very tired of politics.’ Sen. Miriam Defensor- Santiago commented as she walks out the Senate after delivering a speech at the Philippine Senate.

If Madame Miriam has grown very, very tired of politics how much more of the Millions of Filipinos watching the endless Saga of Philippine Politics?

Much worst to quote Madame Miriam “I have to say that (Monday’s) proceedings did not constitute the brightest moment of the Philippine Senate. Our language and behavior did not serve the nation.”  Thank you Madame for that very insightful words. The late Statesmen Carlos P. Romulo surely is very proud of you.

One of the greatest prides that I have to admit being a Filipino is WE have been credited as one of the best parliamentarians, speakers around. But with the latest development, the verbal tussle/ mudslinging of these supposed “dignified individuals” elected by the people of the Republic shown on National TV only constitutes how degradable the System is.

“Honorable Senator Choo Choo Train”  Is this the way how you introduce/address a Senator on the Senate Floor? When in fact they don’t even have a sheer knowledge on what “Honorable” is.  No amount of words would  EVER explain or at least give justice to what happened.

“… If this is the kind of hostile, belligerent attitude we bring to our debate, then all of us should resign immediately, because we do not deserve to be senators,” Madame Sen. Miriam Defensor- Santiago CLAP!CLAP!CLAP!

I think now is the best time to do so don't you think? We need a NEW batch of Senators and if I say NEW it must be all 24 of them elected at the same time, I know it's not within the Philippine Constitution. Let us give HOPE, JUSTICE and PEACE to almost 80 million Filipino People.

Dum spiro spero

Sometimes the Truth about Life is really painful. It comes when we least expect it. With so many things happening right now, we can only hear struggles, pains, rants, etc. Is it really the end of the road?

There is such thing you call it "EFFORT". Effort to Help...to Reach....to be Aware...to Make a Stand. It is afterall "While we breathe, we hope!"

Walang Pinagkaiba....

"I am sick and tired of pseudo intellectuals. Any suggestion on how to deal with them?" P.S. - ACC

- Biloc

“Art” can definitely define a thousand words, paints wonderful colors. It is just unimaginable how an artist depicts his work and how the masses critic on it. Artistry. Respect. Timeless.
